OKC closer to getting a Costco

For years, Oklahoma City residents have wanted a Costco close to home. Currently, fans of the membership warehouse store must drive to Tulsa or Dallas or shop online to get Costco deals or purchase Kirkland products, Costco’s signature line.

With the City Council’s approval to enter negotiations for a retail incentive with Costco, we are one step closer to bringing the nation’s second-largest retail chain to our area.

Costco is known throughout the country for its large selection of products and regional appeal. It is estimated that a new Oklahoma City store will attract over 900,000 visitors annually with a potential trade area of 100 miles or more. Currently, the Oklahoma City area has approximately 2,777 existing Costco Warehouse members who are driving to a distant Costco or shopping Costco online.

The addition of a Costco to the Oklahoma City market is beneficial not only because it adds a highly desired retailer to our mix. The company offers well-paying jobs, nationally $21 per hour, and a robust health plan. The business expects to employ 150 full-time and part-time employees.
